Minor amendment made to State Planning Provisions and modifications made to Planning Directive No. 8 and Planning Directive No. 5.1

The Minister for Planning has made amendment 01-2021 of the State Planning Provisions (SPPs) as a minor amendment of the SPPs. The Minister made this decision after considering the advice of local councils, the Tasmanian Planning Commission and relevant State agencies and State authorities.

The Minister has also issued a modified Planning Directive No. 8 – Exemptions, Application Requirements, Special Provisions  and Zone Provisions (PDF, 1.3 MB) and Planning Directive No. 5.1 – Bushfire-Prone Areas Code  (PDF, 323.5 KB) to align with the amended SPPs. These planning directives include parts of the SPPs in the remaining interim planning schemes.

Amendment 01-2021 of the SPPs:

The modified Planning Directive No. 8:

  • aligns the minor infrastructure and outbuildings exemptions with the amended SPPs;
  • corrects clerical errors and removes inconsistencies in the General Residential Zone and Inner Residential Zone standards consistent with the amended SPPs; and
  • removes references to interim planning schemes that are no longer in effect.

The modified Planning Directive No. 5.1 updates the references to various Australian Standards to align the Bushfire-Prone Areas Code with the amended code in the SPPs.

Amendment 01-2021 of the SPPs and the modified Planning Directive No. 8 and Planning Directive No. 5.1 come into effect on Wednesday, 20 July 2022.
