Draft Land Use Planning and Approvals (Development Assessment Panel) Amendment Bill 2024
What's new? A Position Paper on a proposed Development Assessment Panel (DAP) Framework was on exhibition from 19th October - 30 November 2023.
Consultation is now closed with over 540 submissions being received.
What is this about?
On 21 July 2023, the Premier announced the development of new legislation to allow certain development applications to be determined by an independent DAP appointed by the Tasmanian Planning Commission. The introduction of a DAP framework will provide an alternate approval pathway outside of Councils’ decision-making functions and help ‘take the politics out of planning’ for more complex or contentious development applications.
The preparation of a DAP framework will inform the drafting of an amendment to the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 (LUPA Act).
